Family Dollar opened the doors to our 6,000th Store in Joliet, Illinois. “Since
opening our first store in 1959, Family Dollar has provided customers with values
and convenience in easy-to-shop, neighborhood locations," said Howard Levine, Chairman
and CEO. "The opening of our newest store in Joliet represents a significant milestone
for Family Dollar and is the result of the hard work and dedication of all our Family
Dollar Associates."
In honor of the landmark opening, Family Dollar made a $6,000 donation to the school
library at Pershing Elementary, which is located less than 2 miles from the new
store. The Company also commemorated the milestone by presenting a matching donation
to the Classroom Central program of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system, which
provides much-needed school supplies for local low-income students.
