In October 2009, Family Dollar marked the Company's 50th Anniversary by celebrating the grand opening of the relocated store #38. The original store opened in 1968 and was the 38th store opened by Family Dollar founder Leon Levine. Now located on West Trade Street in Charlotte, North Carolina, the new store #38 is considered a flagship store for Family Dollar. With more than 7,000 square feet of selling space, the store carries all of the great merchandise Family Dollar has to offer its customers; from expanded food and paper products to apparel and home. Members of the community, city government and local leaders shared the honor of cutting the ribbon with CEO Howard Levine and our founder, Leon Levine.
